Whenever possible, avoid inserting tables which must be read by turning the book sideways. Your title and abstract will be used by search engines to help potential audiences locate your work, so clarity will help to draw the attention of your targeted readers.
Page numbers must be located just inside the right page margin with leaders lines of periods filling out the space between the end of the entry and the page number.
Indent and double-space the body of the text. You can assign different levels of headings, different styles in order for Microsoft Word to recognize the level of heading.
You may also use a condensed typeface. Include page numbers for these items but do not assign separate chapter numbers. If an entry takes up more than one line, break up the Dissertation table of contents about three-fourths of the way across the page and place the rest of the text on a second line, single-spacing the two lines.
To do so, click on the bottom of the page you want before the Table of Contents. The chairperson of the dissertation committee should sign one copy of the abstract title page.
Use ten underscore characters, ending with a period if the author is exactly the same as the previous one, or with a comma if the author is the first of a series of new authors, as shown below. Block Indented Quotations Four or more lines of a quotation should be set off from the main text with a double space, typed single spaced with no quotation marks, and the entire block indented one-half inch.

Letters of Permission It is necessary to obtain letters of permission for the reproduction of any copyrighted material which exceeds the Federal law pertaining to "Fair Use.
These lists however, should not be listed in the thesis table of contents. Including lower level headings is optional. Again, all material in an appendix must fit within the overall page margins.
